Forest Edge Community Center
Location: Pacific Northwest
Type: Sustainable Public Facility | Community Architecture
Architect: Harmony Space Architecture
Forest Edge Community Center is a sustainable, nature-integrated gathering space envisioned as a quiet retreat within a wooded hillside. Designed by Harmony Space Architecture, the project brings architecture and landscape into harmony, offering a place for reflection, learning, and community connection.
The center is clad in locally sourced timber and gently tucked beneath a sloped roofline, blending effortlessly into its forested surroundings. The design incorporates passive strategies to enhance energy performance—maximizing solar gain, promoting natural ventilation, and reducing environmental impact.
Inside, expansive glazing opens the building to sweeping woodland views, fostering a sense of light, openness, and connection to nature. The layout supports flexible programming, from educational workshops and wellness classes to community gatherings and seasonal events.
A soft material palette, warm lighting, and subtle detailing create a tranquil atmosphere that encourages both conversation and contemplation. Outdoor circulation paths, native landscaping, and sheltered gathering spaces further extend the building’s reach into the environment.
The Forest Edge Community Center reflects Harmony Space Architecture’s commitment to sustainable, site-responsive public architecture—where design supports community well-being, environmental stewardship, and timeless connection to place.
